Shomerosh is a free app developed by the Computational Neuropsychiatry Lab in the Hebrew University. Shomerosh platform is used for data collection, personalized assessments, and follow-ups for academic research regarding the risk factors of Alzheimer's disease.
If you choose to use Shomerosh, then you agree to your participation in the study and to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy.
This privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, process, and protect your personal information.
By participating in this study and using Shomerosh, you will be required to download the Shomerosh application to your smartphone, register and perform several cognitive tasks and a questionnaire. We collect and use certain user information to enhance and personalize your experience within our app. We will ask you to provide personal information, including but not limited to your name, age, years of education, geo-location, phone number, and e-mail address. We may consider your city of residence to determine the relevance of localized content such as locations-based game and recommendations. This enables us to provide you with location-specific information and features tailored to your geographical area.
Shomerosh provides personalized assessments, therefor we will also ask you to provide information about personal events occurred in your life and your social circles, that will be used to create your, and yours only, personalized assessments. Furthermore, we may ask you to provide information about your clinical state and lifestyle habits to suggest personalized recommendations for actions you can take and, according to research, may help reduce the probability of Dementia in the future. These recommendations are for informational and research purposes only and should not be taken as professional medical advice. Please note that we handle your data with the utmost care and take appropriate security measures to protect it. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. The data collected is solely used for the purposes mentioned above
and to improve our services. By using our app, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in this privacy policy.
We take data security seriously and are powered by a data security company to make sure data is protected at the highest security level. We will only acquire and process data that is adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary for the research program and apply the adequate safeguards to comply with this principle.
Your personal data will be collected and processed only for the purposes of academic research, in accordance with the Israel Privacy Protection Regulations, the Hebrew University research ethics approvals and policies, and the European Research Council requirements, which include compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for scientific research. Your personal information will be de-identified and handled separately from the research data obtained during this study. Measures will be taken to ensure that your name and other personal identifiers will not be associated with the information collected about you or with the study findings.
We will not share your personal information with any third parties except as required by law or as necessary for the purposes of academic research. Data obtained during this study may be used in the production of formal research outputs, such as scientific papers, theses, and reports.

If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our service.
We respect your right to control your personal information. You have the right to request, edit or delete personal information held about you.
Data Deletion or modification Requests: If you wish to have your data modified or deleted from our system, please contact us by e-mail: shomeroshapp@gmail.com, or via "My Profile" screen in the app. We will promptly review and respond to your request in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Account Deletion: If you would like to immediately delete your account and all associated personal data, you can do so by navigating to the account settings within the app and selecting the 'Delete Account' option. Please note that this action is irreversible, and once your account is deleted, all your personal information will be permanently removed from our systems.
Withdrawal of Participation: Your participation in the study is completely voluntary, and you have the right to leave the study at any moment without incurring any fines or consequences. If you wish to stop your participation in the research and choose to delete your account by mail or via the app, all personal data you have previously provided will be deleted. However, you should note that your responses may be used anonymously in the production of formal research outputs prior to your decision of exercising those rights, and so, you should be aware that not always these research outputs can be changed or destroyed. Nevertheless, we will ensure that any retained data continues to be protected in accordance with this privacy policy.
Data Retention Period: We retain user data for a specific period as required by applicable laws and regulations or for legitimate business purposes. After the expiration of the retention period, we will securely delete or anonymize your personal information.
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do the necessary actions.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
